5/9 - Stomachache

Up at 5.30 to sow sweet peas. Nice and cool (somewhat). A lot of people came by to help. The  locals sow the seeds squatting, and I did that for the first hour or so, but had to switch to doing it legs extended and back bended. The people here figured it was because I have such long legs. I am taller than most here – a little taller than the father of the house (168 cm). Each time I tell people I’m 19, they go “oh, wakai” (young), which doesn’t go well with the fact than I can’t sit in the squatting position for very long :b Oh well, my legs are different than theirs, I guess. It’s also kinda annoying to constantly have my left knee popping each time I move while planting seeds, so I get a sore back, but it can’t really be helped. Between a sore back or popping knee and loss of blood circulation in my legs, I guess I choose a sore back.
Work not finished here; from about 4 to 6, I went to the bell peppers to clean up as to not have “disease” as it was explained to me, spread from the dead ones to the fresh ones. I just did what I was told to, and of course in a stance very similar to that I’d been in for hours prior. My back honestly aches now, but it can’t be helped.
Tonight’s dinner is temaki sushi, and I’m starving!

I had a little chat with Michika before dinner, and she really tries her best for me to understand her. We talked a little about anime and her family. She’s very direct (doesn’t hesitate to slap on the shoulder to get my attention and the like), but that makes it all the more easy to feel comfortable around her.

It’s now 8.30pm, and I’m ready to go to bed. I (we) usually don’t go to bed until around 9, but I haven’t been feeling too well today. I had a stomachache, and I don’t feel too good right now either. Perhaps the lack of sleep is finally catching up on me, who knows. Anyways, I never thought I would be happy to hear that I’m getting up at 6.30 in the morning, but I am. We can “sleep in” as we’re not picking bell peppers in the morning. I don’t know what we will be doing though; something with the sweet peas is what I got from obaa-chan. Talked to her about typhoons, hurricanes and earthquakes, and also told her how expensive sushi is in Denmark; she was very surprised!

Well, I’ll head to bed now, even though it will probably be a while before the others go to sleep, but that’s fine. I probably can’t sleep anyways…
