This was my first real day with my host family, and they’re all really kind. I forgot to mention in the previous post, that while going around town with the father, we met a lot of people. We went to the local photographer, and the people here were really interested in hearing things about me. I was even offered to marry their son who is a doctor, but I kindly refused, saying that my parents would probably feel lonely without me, haha. This place was also the first place for me to have my European (= big) nose noticed/commented. Turns out that they are (at least she was) envious of it, which I don’t get at all. I’ve always thought my nose was too big, but whatever. At school, girls aren’t allowed to have pierced ears, so I guess it’s kinda rare for them to see people with pierced ears, but at the post office, they told me it’s cute. Oh, there’s another thing! The photograher told me to come by one day and have my picture taken… I understood that they wanted to hang my picture up in the shop O__O
Before going to bed, I did a little math and calculated that during the last 55 hours, I had slept for around 6-7 of them. I don’t feel it though, but it’s incredibly annoying to lie awake half the night, especially as I’m used to fall asleep in 10 minutes or so. Oh well…
Oh yes, I got to try some mustard eggplant. Obaa-chan (grandmum) offered me to try some eggplant she’d just prepared, and not knowing what she’d done to them, I didn’t find out untill too late, that it was mustard… i am NOT a fan of mustard, and as the idiot I tend to be, I didn’t just take one little piece, but 4-5. BIG mistake. At a point I thought I was about to vomit… It stung my nose, and the taste in general just wasn’t to my liking. Won’t be doing that again!
