So, a lot happened today! I’ll start from the beginning.
Got up at 5.30, started working in the peeman field from 6 to 8, had breakkie, cut off stalks on peemen until 11.30 or so, went to town with otou-san. Took picture of a waterfall (or maybe it was just a dam? Not sure), went on, had a near-death experience (ok, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but we were drivig with good speed, and some idiot just came in from a side road.) We actually chased him for quite a while to tell him a thing or two, but he escaped. Speed was way beyond the allowed, and I guess you can call it a car chase.
A very representative me (cough; I can’t help it. The heat and high humidity makes my hair out of control) with the waterfall in the back. Pic credits to otou-san.
Right, then we went to a place called “koi”, and so, it’s not the fish, but a match-making bureau which otou-san is actually part of… quite a big part, it seems. I had a nice chat with the women working there, and I got another visiting card so I could contact them some time when at home or something… I actually forget what they said about writing them, but I think (hope) I’ll meet them again, cos they were really nice!
Next stop, otou-san’s friend who lives next to a Zen-temple (I don’t know what role he had in the temple, but he knew all about it, and he could happen to be some kind of monk-ish person). Anyways, we were there for 2-3 hours; yeah, really! They too were very, very friendly and very interested in hearing all about Denmark and myself. They showed me around the temple which was being restored, but original things still remained. There was a carry box about 300 years old! It’s one that some royal person would sit in, and subjects would carry it on their shoulders. The temple was VERY beautiful!
Here’s the carry box; sorry about the fan…
A thingy I don’t really know what is… very pretty though.
Old taiko drum; he demonstrated what they do at ceremonies.
Finally, he showed me how to do shodo; Japanese (maybe originating from China?) ink writing. I got a shodo pen as a pressie ^^ (Btw, he asked me to write my name, and I messed up a little, hence the strange layout…)
They even invited the family and me to a barbeque party on the 22nd, which is the last full day I’ll be spending with the Itou-family. Nice was to end the visit ^^ Can’t wait to go there again!
Lastly, obaa-chan sorting peemen. (Hope she doesn’t mind…)
Oh yeah, on our way home from work, we met one of the neighbours who offered me to come with her on her daily walk around the neighbourhood. She talked a lot about plants and veggies, taught me their names (although most are forgotten now), and even dug up some potatos (imo) for me to bring home to the family. Very nice of her! This place is full of nice people! :D
I think that was it, really… Was a nice day though! From 4 to 6pm I did some cleaning in the peeman greenhouse, and then I accessed the internet on the family’s pc to check Facebook and my emails and do a little real-time update on my blog.
So, yet another good day! I wonder what awaits me tomorrow! :D
